Senate and Neocons Agree to Carve Up Bill of Rights

It’s now official, the entire Senate is criminally complicit in undermining the Fourth Amendment.

“Senate Democrats and Republicans reached agreement with the Bush administration yesterday on the terms of new legislation to control the federal government’s domestic surveillance program, which includes a highly controversial grant of legal immunity to telecommunications companies that have assisted the program, according to congressional sources,” reports the CIA’s favorite newspaper, the Washington Post.

Michael Rubin: Neocon Bunting on Giuliani’s Dog and Pony Show

Astute political commentators realize Rudy Giuliani doesn’t stand a chance of becoming the next commander and decider guy, as that position is reserved for a Democrat, most likely Hillary Clinton. Our rulers are fond of the musical chairs process, selecting a Republican one term and a Democrat the next, providing the illusion we are throwing out the bums, when in fact we are voting for the same old globalist one-worlders. Thus Giuliani has nothing to lose by staffing his campaign with irredeemable neocons, most recently Michael Rubin and David Frum. “They join a staunchly neo-conservative team that includes Martin Kramer, an Israeli-American Shi’ism expert who wrote a book several years ago faulting the U.S. Middle East academic community for failing to anticipate the rise of al-Qaeda; Norman Podhoretz, a founder of the neo-conservative movement, who counsels a military strike to stop Iran from developing a nuclear program; Stephen Rosen, a Harvard University national security professor, and Peter Berkowitz, a law professor at George Mason University in Virginia,” notes the Jewish Telegraph Agency.

Pain Compliance. Coming Soon to an Antiwar Demo Near You?

Last September, Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne indicated the military would use “nonlethal weapons” against “fellow citizens” before they use them in “a wartime situation.” In other words, the American people are considered little more than guinea pigs, especially dissenting Americans in need of “crowd control.”

Before zapping antiwar demonstrators with an ADS beam—that’s short for “Active Denial System”—the military or police may request they remove glasses, contact lenses, and take coins and keys out of their pockets. “Precautions used to test U.S. military’s microwave weapon ADS for crowd control have raised questions about its safety, says a report,” explains United Press International. “These precautions raise concerns about the ADS in real crowd-control situations, the New Scientist reported… The ADS fires a 95-gigahertz microwave beam, which is supposed to heat skin and to cause pain but no physical damage, the report said. Until now little information about its effects had been released.”

Al-Qaeda: Sort of Like the Energizer Bunny

For those of you slipping back into normalcy, no longer particularly bothered by “al-Qaeda” or the interminable GWOT, along comes another White House report on national security. “We also must never lose sight of al-Qaeda’s persistent desire for weapons of mass destruction, as the group continues to try to acquire and use chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear material,” the neocons claim, hardly coincidentally at the same time they have “called anew on the Democratic-led Congress to expand the power of US intelligence agencies to eavesdrop on suspected terrorists ‘while protecting the civil liberties of Americans,” that last part added as an obligatory calmative, as anybody even halfway acquainted with the Bill of Rights understands full well that eavesdropping, especially in high-tech NSA vacuum cleaner fashion, is a full court press against the Constitution.

Meet the New IMF, Same as the Old IMF

Leave it to a socialist to provide the International Monetary Fund with its new agenda, basically the same old agenda.

Dominique Strauss-Kahn, a former finance and economics minister in French politician Lionel Jospin’s “Plural Left” government, “said overhauls he intends for the IMF will allow it to adapt to ‘a new balance of power in the world’ and ‘to the new kind of financial crisis’ that has hit financial markets recently,” according to the Wall Street Journal. Of course, this supposed “new balance of power in the world” is the same old balance of power, that is to say the same old neoliberal principles are at work, albeit with a shiny new veneer designed to trick the public, as usual.

Claremont Neocon: Iran Plays Tiddlywinks with “al-Qaeda”

In an effort to pave the way for the total destruction of Iran, the neocon think-tanks are marching out “experts” to convince us, the mostly clueless and witless American public, that Iran is the epicenter of evil in the world, thus its hospitals, kindergarten classrooms, and water treatment plants justly deserve to be bombed.

One such instance of this shameless fear mongering and transparent propaganda comes from the Claremont Institute, described by Media Transparency as “a bastion of Straussian scholarship,” that is to say promulgation of Machiavellian deception and “noble lies,” as Strauss called lying to the people, taking his cue from Plato. As should be expected, the Claremont Institute is funded by the usual suspects, including the Scaife foundation, presided over by the CIA asset, Richard Mellon Scaife.

Joe’s Borrowed Idea: Split Iraq into Three Pieces

It is, to say the least, a predictable outcome, one that dovetails nicely with the neocon master plan. “US lawmakers voted Wednesday to split Iraq into a loose federation of sectarian-based regions and urged President George W Bush to press Iraqi leaders to agree,” reports Monsters and Critics. “More than 20 Republicans joined Democrats to pass the non-binding measure in the Senate, 75-23, showing frustration in both parties about Bush’s war policy and lagging national reconciliation in Iraq.” How anybody expects “national reconciliation” in a country—or the mere shadow of a country—bombed to kingdom come is not explained, not that it matters, as splintering Iraq into three distinct pieces harks back to the earliest Israeli planners, or maybe I should say criminal connivers.

Iran’s Impending Destruction: Is Ahmadinejad Clueless?

Ervand Abrahamian, Iran expert at CUNY, made a few interesting comments to Amy Goodman of Democracy Now in regard to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s speech at Columbia. Abrahamian was baffled by Ahmadinejad’s lack of response to the increasing “tempo” of the neocon plan to shock and awe Iran, kill countless grandmothers and toddlers, and usher in “democracy” by way of cruise missile and bunker buster.

“I was surprised because he didn’t really use the opportunity to try to lower the tempo, the serious problem we have now, which is we’re at the abyss of war, basically. And there are people pushing for war in the next few months. And this would have been a very good opportunity to try to smooth things over, try to calm the tempo down,” Abrahamian told Goodman.

Syria’s Illusory Nukes: More Propaganda

As suspected, Israel’s claim of a raid against a Syrian nuclear facility is a load of hooey. “Israel did not strike a nuclear weapons facility in Syria on Sept. 6, instead striking a cache of North Korean missiles, current and former intelligence officials say,” writes Larisa Alexandrovna for Raw Story. “American intelligence sources familiar with key events leading up to the Israeli air raid tell Raw Story that what the Syrians actually had were North Korean No-Dong missiles, possibly located at a site in either the city of Musalmiya in the northern part of Syria or further south around the city of Hama.” Of course, considering “American intelligence sources” are notorious liars, turning weather balloon trailers into chemical weapons labs, this admission is suspect as well. For all we know, Israel bombed a mule team, if that.
